If your domain is already taken, you will see the domain status as active and also see the registration and expiry dates. You can use alternative TLDs or contact the domain owner.

- Not Verifying Your Email
As part of the domain registration process, Trustname will send a verification email to your address. If you don't click on the verification link to complete the process, your domain won't be registered successfully.
If you don't get a verification email from us make sure to check your spam/junk folder and add Trustname to your safe sender's list so you never miss any important notifications in the future.
- Locked Domains And Transfer Restrictions
As an extension of the point we made earlier, if the domain is already taken and is locked at the current registrar, you won't be able to register it since the registrar will prevent any modifications from being made to it.

Sometimes, we may place redemption phase domains on auction and if they have been bid on, you won't be able to register them anymore once a buyer secures them.
- If You Are A Buyer
Say you have been monitoring a domain for a while and see that it recently expired in the WHOIS database. You won't be able to register it right away after expiry. When a domain expires, it goes through several phases Grace period, Redemption, Auctions, and Pending delete.
If the domain is in the Grace period, you won't be able to register it at all since it's still reserved for the current owner. In the Redemption phase, the domain may be placed on auction by the registrar and this is when you can buy it on their associated auction site.
If a domain wasn't bid on in auctions, it is sent to the pending delete phase the pending delete typically lasts 5 days and no modification can be made on the domain. At the end of the pending delete phase, the domain essentially becomes a brand new domain and can be registered by anyone.
